Ambulance Care Assistant - Team Leader
Location: Grange University Hospital, Cwmbran NP44 8YN
Contract type: Fixed Term Contract until March 2025
Hours: 36 per week, this will include 2 x 10 hour shifts and 16 hours management tasks
Salary: £22,432 per annum
Driving Required: Full UK Driving Licence for at least 2 years to operate a manual gearbox British Red Cross vehicle.

We are looking for a dynamic person to lead a team our talent team of Red Cross Ambulance Care Assistants. Your goal? To ensuring our team provide high quality care to patients, in partnership with the local Home safe and well being service at the emergency department in the Grange university Hospital.

You'll work in Grange University Hospital 2 shifts a week from 10am to 8pm over Monday- Friday (rota basis). You'll alos16 hours of admin over Monday- Friday either from home or at the Grange University Hospital.

This role essential to the Red Cross and therefore essential to our mission of supporting people in Crisis. You'll have a unique opportunity to work directly with out teams to make a tangible difference to our services users. Are you up for the challenge?

Wondering about a day in the life of an Ambulance Care Team Leader? You'll be

  • Arranging team schedules, making sure everyone's covered as per agreements. Creating monthly rotas, ensuring full service cover as well as authorising Annual Leave.
  • Being the on-site go-to for any service questions or issues that pop up for BRC & NHS staff. Being on the floor in the department and a point of contact for any support needed for staff and patients.
  • Handling referrals, assessing risks for users, and guiding them to suitable services.
  • Keeping service delivery on track day-to-day, ensuring users get the help they need.
  • Supporting patients directly, offering practical and emotional support.
  • Reviewing files, documents, ensuring paperwork is completed daily and inputting paperwork onto BRC systems.
  • Developing the service and building relationships with NHS Staff.

Could the role of Ambulance Care Team Leader be for you? You'll need:

  • To be computer literate and confident using spreadsheets, emails, teams, etc.
  • To be able to talk with staff and patients as well as comfortable writing information and being a good listener.
  • To have the ability to handle conflicts and think on your feet and problem solve.
  • To keep tasks in check and meets deadlines.
  • Knowledge about health, safety, and safeguarding when working with others.
  • To understand the challenges of helping vulnerable people and know community services.
  • Management experience and the ability to lead and manage a team.

Experience is desired, however training will be given to the right candidate.
