Your Mission

As part of our engineering team, you will develop complex reporting functionality and visualisations to deliver value to our customers and internal BI stakeholders.

What you'll be working on

• Design, implement and deliver secure data transformation features with full ownership, using your technical expertise

• Specifically: Use dbt and SQL to create maintainable transformations, custom reports and BI data schemas

• Collaborate with our data engineers to create a modern data platform architecture that enables internal and external parties to self serve their data needs

• Take ownership of business critical components, ensure their stability, maintainability & security

• Maintain data documentation and definitions

• Apply data testing and quality assurance methods to instil trust in the information

• Collaborate with product/business/customer stakeholders and other members of the team to scope and estimate optimal solutions for complex data problems

• Ensure that security considerations are taken into account, based on current best practices (e.g. OWASP Top 10, AWS Well-Architected Framework) in all software development and infrastructure projects

Behind the scenes

Our cross-functional delivery teams are focused on business goals and solving problems in an efficient manner. We want the teams to collaborate on new ideas and projects to find the best solutions.

The Ben platform is built on Python 3, Django, PostgreSQL and React. We run on AWS and follow engineering best practices, with a pragmatic approach.

Our current data platform is built around PostgreSQL, dbt, Airflow, S3, Athena and Metabase.

You'll love this role if you are/have...

• Fluent in dbt & SQL

• Excellent Analytics Engineering knowledge: Clean and testable code, OLAP schema design & data governance

• Good understanding of common BI / data viz tools and platforms

• Hands-on experience in delivering production grade reports both internally and securely to external parties

• Applied information security in configuring data access, row level permissioning etc.

• Understand and appreciate the principles and practices of agile and lean ways of working, but with a pragmatic edge

• Excellent communication skills adaptable to both tech and business audiences
