Job description

Supporting the business and our divisional offices, our Head Office functions cover all departments from our Executive Board through to our support functions such as Group Design and Technical, HR, Health and Safety, IT, Sales and Marketing, Commercial, Procurement, Group Finance, Corporate Affairs, as well as Legal and Company Secretariat. We also have a specialised function – Barratt Partnerships.

While the work varies from team to team, our key requirements don’t: you must be well organised, extremely helpful and resourceful, and able to use your initiative. You’ll understand that what you do is important, and impacts on your team, the department, and the wider business.

Group Reporting is responsible for the accurate, timely and comprehensive production and release of the Group’s Financial Statements in line with IFRS. It also manages the production of statutory accounts for Barratt entities, and is responsible for the management of the Group’s financial policies and procedures, and of the financial control environment. The team is also accountable for the management of the Group’s ESG reporting framework. It oversees the Group’s audit processes both for financial and ESG reporting.

We are offering a opportunity for someone to join the Group Reporting team on a fixed term contract reporting to the Head of Reporting, within the Group Finance team. The role will be responsible for the project management and delivery of the Group’s FY24 Annual Report and Accounts. This is a new role, created to manage the increasingly complex production and delivery process of an Annual Report and accounts. It will require excellent process management, strong stakeholder engagement skills across multiple parts of the business, and ability to deliver to tight deadlines. Barratt Developments is a FTSE 100 company housebuilder. It has recently announced its intention to combine with Redrow Plc; the combination remains subject to shareholder and regulatory approval.

You will be expected to:

  • Lead and project manage the delivery of the 2024 Annual Report for a Midlands-based FTSE 100 company
  • Hold contributors to account on scope and timing of delivery of sections of the Annual Report during drafting
  • Liaise with 3rd party publisher on timings, inputs and outputs for different sections of the ARA; able to hold publisher to account
  • Support functional leaders in delivering discrete sections of the report and financial statements – Strategic Report, Governance, Sustainability and Financial Statements
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, including in the Group’s communications, finance, IR and Cosec functions
  • Provide editorial and drafting support where necessary
  • Manage the internal review process and ensure all required changes are enacted
  • Lead the selection and, where required, procurement of photography for use throughout the Annual Report, based on brand guidelines
  • Prepare materials supporting engagement with senior stakeholders, including CEO, COO and CFO, and members of the Board of Directors

Request

To be successful in the role, we are looking for:
  • Motivated and self-starting; able to drive work autonomously
  • Able to hold self and others to account for on time delivery
  • Excellent at time management and planning
  • Able to communicate clearly with individuals at all levels of the organisation
  • Calm under pressure; able to clearly articulate pathways through complex problems
  • Ready to get stuck in to drive delivery
  • Previous knowledge of Annual Report and Accounts production processes; knowledge of requirements for corporate reporting in the UK
