We are looking for an experienced ‘Senior Manager, Research and Executive Reporting’ to join the Analytics, Effectiveness and Brand Performance team within the Customer, Brand & Engagement (CB&E) function.
You may have noticed big things have been happening at Nationwide. In 2023 we carried out our first rebrand in 30 years. With this change and the launch of a new advertising campaign, it is more important than ever to understand the power of our brand and the effectiveness of our advertising.
As ‘Senior Manager, Research and Executive Reporting’ you’ll be at the heart of understanding our brand performance and bringing to life the power of our brand. You’ll be bringing together multiple sources of information from across research, analytics and data science into stories that resonate with audiences right up to our CEO.
Being able to make sense of the data and tell a compelling story – verbally and through Executive level presentations and papers – is at the heart of this exciting role. Through these stories you’ll be helping shape the future strategic direction of the Nationwide brand.
This is a new role, so the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape and grow the role and make it your own.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, at one of our offices. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.
If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading a small team of research professionals, focused on understanding the effectiveness of the Nationwide brand and advertising activity.
- Taking the challenges and questions from key leaders across the function and the business and turning these into focused research briefs.
- Bringing together input from across the Analytics, Effectiveness and Brand Performance team, analysing and crafting into coherent and compelling stories.
- Tailoring these stories to key internal audiences – including the Customer, Brand and Engagement leadership team, the Chief Customer Officer, Nationwide’s Executive Committee and the CEO.
- Managing the plan for the team and ensuring key milestones and delivery deadlines are met for research studies, committee papers and presentations.
- Supporting the leader of the Analytics, Effectiveness and Brand Performance in responding to executive level briefs and requests for brand and advertising insight.
- Managing the relationship with our brand performance research agency, and other research agencies.

- Analytical prowess – Whilst we are not looking for specific analytical skills, we are looking for someone with experience in working with large and complex data sets to identify key stories and points of interest.
- Team leadership – You’ll ideally have experience of leading and motivating a team or research professionals, helping them prioritise and deliver against a backlog of demand from the business.
Our Customer First behaviours are all about putting customers and members at the heart of how we work together. You can strengthen your application by showing the behaviours that resonate with you, and how you might have already demonstrated these.

What makes us different
Nationwide is the world’s largest building society. With over 15 million customers, we have a relationship with almost a quarter of the UK’s population. We’ve got the scale to compete with the big banks, but we’re not a bank.
As a building society, we’re owned by our members – that’s our customers who have their current account, mortgage or savings with us. It means we can do things differently to deliver our Purpose – Banking – but fairer, more rewarding, and for the good of society.
When you work at Nationwide, you can experience that difference for yourself. You’ll be part of a high-performing, purpose-driven organisation that offers rewarding career experiences and a highly competitive range of benefits to match. You’ll also be joining us at an important time as we seek to reach more and more people in the UK. We want everyone in the UK to know that they don’t have to bank with a bank. They can choose a modern mutual instead.
