This role is based on-site, 5 days per week, ineither our Bridgend or Reading offices. Occasional evening andweekend work for support activities will be required. Allapplicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National SecurityVetting (NSV) to Security Check (SC) and NPPV3 level.
Yourfuture duties andresponsibilities
You will provide Application Support and Database Administration toour key clients on a VLDB with multiple partitioning strategies.This typically comprises Application Support to identify dataanomalies and code defects; PL/SQL and SQL statement tuning;Application releases and deployments together with DatabaseAdministration; Capacity Planning; Performance Monitoring andTuning. You will work to resolve incidents via Remedy (ITSM) callmanagement system with SLA deadlines and perform planned releasessupporting a bespoke application.
Requiredqualifications to be successful in thisrole
Essential:
Experience of development and/orsupport of Oracle PL/SQL modules in a large system
Basicknowledge of Oracle Database Administration in a Development orProduction role
MS-Office tools including Word, Excel,Visio
Technicalskills:
Underlying technology skillrequirements, must have development / support skills in a range ofthe following:
Exposure to Oracle 10g or later(the application version is Oracle 11gR1)
In depthknowledge and experience in writing Oracle SQL statements andPL/SQL packages
Exposure to Unix (the application usesSun Solaris, but any flavour of Unix or Linux isacceptable)
Desirableskills:
Performance Tuning of SQL andPL/SQL
Advanced PL/SQL techniques (analytical functions,collection handling, bulk processing, objects, LOBs)
Experience of Oracle partitioning
Exposure to Oracle RAC,Oracle RMAN, Oracle Data Guard
Knowledge of OracleWeblogic, Oracle Service Bus or other Application Server technology
