Popham has an empowering and highly supportive approach to people management, which is entirely consistent with its business ethos, goals and values. There is a well-developed business plan and individual targets for all members of staff, to which people have contributed and can relate. A strong commitment to training and development from the directors and managers, and ensuring that this development takes place, and that people believe the commitment.

There is a very flexible approach to the delivery of learning and development activities, which take into account factors such as working patterns and people’s preferred learning styles. People confirm that development activities are readily accessible, regardless of their individual circumstances.

The range of communication processes in the business, for example, whole business meetings and monthly individual one-to-ones with the managers and directors, which are very effective in keeping people informed what is happening across the business and provides them with the opportunity to give feedback and make suggestions on how to improve the performance of the business.
