The Company:
ER Recruitment is working exclusively with a non-profit charity who provide compassionate care for patients, their family, and carers. Our client is looking for an a passionate and commercially minded individual to drive their retail and café outlets.
Role & Responsibilities of the Area Manager:
- Support with preparation of the annual strategy and plan with Management, creating clear objectives.
- Realise the potential of the retail and catering outlets in terms of turnover and profitability; working with Shop and Cafe Managers to achieve set targets per shop, as set by the Retail Manager.
- Ensure superior customer service and excellent visual standards in all shops and cafes.
- Ensure staff are following Health and Safety processes, completing checks on time, and escalation processes are followed correctly.
- Provide effective leadership and management.
- Make regular visits to shops and cafes within the allocated area to ensure that agreed standards are met, with specific attention to presentation, stock rotation and stock levels.
- Ensure that all monies are handled according to financial and security procedures, including the receipting of cash donations and end of day till balancing.
- Keep up to date with retail and catering developments locally and nationally, especially within the charity sector and share commercial recommendations.
- Support Managers within the allocated area to ensure all shops and cafés are open for business for a full trading week.
- Assist in the recruitment, induction and training of new staff members. Take responsibility for all mandatory training including direct reports.
- Attend meetings and training sessions as requested by the Retail Manager.
- Carry out annual PAT testing audits in accordance with the PAT testing policy.
- Ensure shops and cafes are promoting all services of the organisation and collaboratively working with other areas of the business to sell additional products.
- Ensure that staff and volunteers receive regular updates and communication in order to understand and follow new processes and policies.
- Provide leadership, mentoring and direction to Managers directly reporting into this position.
- Conduct effective performance & development reviews which clarify objectives, assess performance comprehensively and fairly support staff with personal & professional development.
- Carry out return-to-work interviews, probationary period reviews and deal with any performance related matters in line with policies and procedures.
About You as the Area Manager:
- Experience leading a team in a retail environment, catering experience is highly desirable.
- Multi site experience is ideal, however someone who is commercially minded and can drive continuous improvement is essential.
- Hands on with the team with the ability to reprioritise and be adaptable in your approach.
- Strong operational background.
- Full UK Licence and vehicle are a must to travel between sites.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- A people person.
