Position Summary
Area Project Engineer is responsible for development of design contract scope documentation and following activities through procurement and evaluation to award. The role will then oversee the design subcontract execution including subcontract management, progress monitoring and interface management with the wider project design.
Typical Responsibilities
Plans and directs third party engineering assignments on a large semiconductor project. Has technical responsibilities for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating third party engineering assignments related to a semiconductor FAB facility.
Supervises the engineering activity (all disciplines) on a semiconductor project, or designated portions of a project.
May exercise operational supervision over assigned third party engineering subcontractors.
As directed, manages the complex organizational interactions that evolve from the participation of several Bechtel entities on the project or from client-established relationships with other contractors.
Establishes and maintains access to technical experts in the advanced technologies pertinent to the project and sets up channels of communication to bring this expertise to bear effectively on the engineering effort.
Requires a broad knowledge of administrative practices.
Establishes the detailed project scope, including basic engineering criteria and assumptions.
Responsible for Project Engineering schedules and budgets and plays a major role in the total installed cost of the entire facility. Responsible for maintaining the quality of design and making the facility safe for construction and operations personnel.
The primary contact with our customer(s) and our senior management on matters relating to Project Engineering progress, quality, scope and technical/permitting issues. Represents Engineering in respect to major items with suppliers.
Responsible for Managing engineering subcontracts with their design and delivery per contract requirements.
Champions the creation of a work environment, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction on the project.
Interfacing with the customer engineering lead to establish requirements, communicate progress, understand and resolve customer concerns.
Assist with managing the engineering team to meet quality and schedule requirements for the production of the engineering deliverables.
Providing technical oversight for the development of engineering subcontract deliverables for the project.
Reviewing and approving key engineering deliverables for the project including CAD models, drawings, specifications and supporting calculations.
Reporting progress and status of the development of key engineering deliverables.
Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers and field supervision.
Fostering openness, trust, communication, teamwork, innovation and empowerment among project team members.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Engineering from an accredited institution
Professional license or registration in an engineering discipline.
Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams in work process development.
Experienced in BIM design and federated modelling requirements / processes.
Experienced in the design of supporting systems, equipment layout and optimization for modular design considerations.
Knowledge of codes and standards applicable to building design – especially EU.
Knowledge related to semiconductor manufacturing facility, buildings a plus.
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
