About the Role

An exciting opportunity has become available to join our School of Health Science and Social Care team. We offer courses from Entry 3 to Level 3 for young people and adults who want to progress into the Health and Social Care sector. We are an outstanding department with highly committed and supportive staff. The School of Health, Science and Social Care offers a wide range of study programmes to both 16-18 and 19+ learners who are looking to pursue a career in Health and Social Care

The job role will be based around supporting our students who are studying a Health and Social Care vocational course and our T level students who will complete work experience/industry placement  in the workplace. The team you will be joining have an extensive range of skills, knowledge and experience from their specialist industry backgrounds which is invaluable to the teaching, learning and assessment process.

What You Will Do

There will be a requirement to support pre-placement checks such as ensuring that all student have an enhanced DBS, preparing students for a work placement experience or industry placement, support with visiting the students whilst on placement, completing the Care certificate with the students and recording placement hours and reflective practice through the college system of Navigate. 

You will  liaise and build positive working relationships with the employers who will be supporting the learners whilst on placement.

  • To plan, co-ordinate, assess and review the learning activities associated with learners in the workplace, and lead and supervise a team of assessors.

  • To raise the profile of the Health, science and Social Care Department in the local and regional community and develop links with local employers.

  • To support students to locate placement experience across the region.

About You

  • Ideally, you will be trained with a minimum of 3 years experience in the industry. You will hold a relevant Level 4/5 qualification in the vocational area along with a teaching qualification and an assessor qualification. Candidates who only have one of these awards will be supported in achieving the relevant missing award. Experience in teaching or assessing in a Health and or Social Care environment would be advantageous.

  • Minimum Level 2 in Maths and English (GCSE Grade C or above, GCSE Grade 4 or above or equivalent).
