Our client is a well-known, market leader in an interesting business sector, with a dominant presence in the UK, Ireland and Europe.
With a heritage in Cumbria & Scotland, they have an office located near Carlisle. They are currently looking to appoint a full-time Assistant Accountant, reporting directly to the Financial Controller, and working closely with other departments and senior management.
This is a key role within the company, with primary responsibility for product accounting and sales ledger, working in a small, core finance team of three.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsibility of the full sales ledger function; raising customer invoices, dealing with customers queries to resolve anomalies.
- Chase outstanding debts and preparing the monthly sales ledger control reconciliations.
- Monthly reports, calculations and analysis of aged debt
- Preparation and control of product sales, including working with managers to prepare sales contracts and consulting with finance companies regarding customer finance.
- Raising sales invoices and credit notes
- Posting and preparing journals
- Allocation of cash receivables and banking
- Preparation of key control reconciliations at the month end
Skills and experience required.
- This role would suit an experienced Assistant Accountant with general all round accounting knowledge and a particular enjoyment and enthusiasm for sales ledger and credit control.
- The successful applicant may be qualified by experience, AAT part/fully qualified or interested in undertaking further studies (CIMA/ACCA).
- Ability to work in a busy role and priorities workload.
- Proficient IT skills, in particular Microsoft Excel and Word and a willingness to develop these skills further.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build good working relationships.
