Your new role
In your role as an Assistant Accountant, you will have day-to-day responsibilities. These will include:
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts including prepayments, general accruals and other relevant journal entries
- Maintenance of control accounts and balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintenance of Fixed Asset Registers
- Daily Bank reconciliation
- Credit card monitoring and reconciliation
- Check supplier invoice and make supplier payments weekly.
- Preparation and checking of quarterly VAT returns
- Monthly Payroll & keeping up to date with HMRC requirements
- Involvement in Credit Control and Credit Insurance
- Dealing with financial paperwork and filing
- Other ad hoc duties
What you'll need to succeed
- Either qualified by experience, part qualified with (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or AAT
- Proficient with MS Office, Excel spreadsheets and accountancy software (preferably Sage 50)
- Some financial experience within an industrial or manufacturing background (not essential)
- Work well within a pressured environment, work to deadlines and have attention to detail and accuracy.
- Have a solid and all-round accounts and bookkeeping experience
- Organised, self-motivated, proactive with the ability to multitask.
- An effective team worker.
