Assistant Accountant - Financial Planning And Analysis

Your new company

You will be joining a well established national charity as an Assistant Accountant (FP&A). The role is currently planned to last for 6 months with the possibility of being extended or made Permanent.
Your new role

• You will be responsible for providing transactional support to the organisation, ensuring that coding of income and expenditure is accurate, as well as assisting with the clearing of an extensive backlog of purchase invoices
• Assist in the production of monthly Management Accounts and contribute to the continuous improvement of the information provided to the organisation
• Process transactional queries and coding requests from the business
• Develop and maintain a good working relationship with all areas of the organisation
• Assist with the running of monthly management reports, including the running of month-end checks, providing robust, meaningful and accurate variance analysis and the preparation of draft commentaries
• Collect, analyse, check and post accruals at month and year-end
• Assist with budget setting and forecasting as required, providing advice and support to the business
• Provide analysis and ad-hoc reports to the Business Partnering team as required

What you'll need to succeed

• AAT qualified, CCAB part qualified or qualified by experience
• Ability to use accounting systems, report writers, budget software and other systems at a detailed level
• Advanced use of Excel including vlookups, pivot tables etc
• Excellent financial analytical skills
• Flexible and imaginative approach to problem solving and an ability to anticipate and respond to the requirements of managers
• Ability to prioritise workload and manage your time effectively
• Knowledge of General and Nominal Ledgers (preferably Sun Accounts)
• Relevant experience of working in a complex, customer focused finance environment
