Your new role
As an Assistant Accountant, you'll be involved in a range of critical financial tasks. Here's what you'll be doing:
- Monthly Management Accounts: You'll assist in preparing the monthly management accounts, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to the Board and Banks.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Your role includes validating data through various balance sheet reconciliations. This involves handling trade debtors, bad debt provisions, unbilled disbursements, deferred income, and unbilled revenue (work-in-progress).
- Overhead Management: Collaborate with the Finance Business Partner to manage overheads for Business Services. This includes analyzing monthly overhead variances against budget, posting accruals, and handling prepayments.
- Budgets and Forecasts: Assist in preparing overhead budgets and forecasts for Business Services, contributing to effective financial planning.
- Business Partnership: You'll partner with the business teams, addressing ad hoc queries and providing financial insights.
- Year-End Accounts: Support the production of year-end accounts and provide relevant information for external auditors.
- Cash Flow Forecasting: Prepare the cash flow forecast, including necessary correspondence with the bank.
- Weekly Cash Management: Maintain the cash management spreadsheet on a weekly basis.
- Ad Hoc Tasks and Projects: As delegated by Senior Finance staff, you'll contribute to various ad hoc tasks and projects.
What you'll need to succeed
- Relevant experience in accounting or finance.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Excel, QuickBooks).
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience in a professional services firm (desired)
