Assistant Accountant

We are on the lookout for a diligent and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant for our Industrial/Manufacturing team based on the Wirral. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining our financial records and assisting with the general operations within our Accounting & Finance department.

Description

• Assist in the preparation of financial statements.
• Conduct routine accounting tasks, including managing payrolls and controlling income and expenditure.
• Support the finance department with various administrative tasks.
• Participate in financial audits and work with senior accountants to ensure the accuracy of information.
• Preparation of VAT returns and other statutory financial reports.
• Manage accounting databases and spreadsheets, ensuring all financial data is accurate.
• Monitor office expenditures and handle all necessary paperwork.
• Collaborate with the team to improve financial processes and systems.

Profile

A successful Assistant Accountant should have:

• A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly MS Excel.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting and legislation.
• Experience within manufacturing and exposure to standard costing - Prioritised
• Excellent mathematical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• High level of professionalism and ethics.
