We are seeking an Assistant Accountant who will support the finance team in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

This role is critical in helping us achieve our financial goals and ensuring the smooth operation of our financial processes.

Are you the right person for the job?

• AAT level 4 qualified, working towards ACCA or CIMA (study support available)
• Excellent advanced Excel skills, including good knowledge of using pivot tables, lookups, sum-ifs
• Experience in dealing with large volumes of data
• Managing a varied workload in a busy environment
• Strong technical accounting understanding
• Attention to detail, accuracy
• Dynamic, proactive attitude and a desire to improve working practices
• Professional and mature manner
• Flexible, team-based approach to their job
• A clear, coherent communicator
• Pride in accuracy and attention to detail in complex financial issues

What will your role look like?

• Daily cashflow reporting and forecasting
• Assisting in the production of monthly management accounts
• Reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts for multiple companies
• Investigation of issues found in the balance sheet, working with teams outside of the finance to resolve issues
• Bank reconciliation for some foreign currency accounts
• P&L analysis reports
• Management of the fixed asset register, monthly calculation of depreciation and posting journals
• Sales reconciliation and reporting
• Accruals and prepayments
• Reconciliation of the business inter-company accounts
• Supporting the payment process managed by the team
• Some support on the management process for credit cards and expenses
• Assist with the reconciliation process for rebates
• Completion of SECR report (quarterly and annually), including completing of energy consumption data and reporting internally to other areas of the business
• Completion of returns for the Office for National Statistics
• Assisting with the annual audit preparation
• Support to the Management Accountants and Finance Manager as required
