Job Description
Due to a department re-structure and to support the continuing growth of JDR, we have an exciting new position of an Assistant Buyer which has opened up within our Supply Chain team.
The role of Assistant Buyer plays a crucial role in supporting the purchasing activities of within the supply chain function. Working closely with the purchasing team, this position involves various tasks related to sourcing, negotiating, and maintaining inventory levels to ensure optimal supply chain efficiency.
Reporting into the Senior Buyer, the main responsibilities of the role will include:
- Generate purchase orders and ensure accurate documentation of transactions ensuring contractual documentation is aligned with purchase order requirements.
- Communicate with suppliers to obtain product information, negotiate terms and build positive relationships to secure the best supplier provision for JDR. Ensuring that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships.
- Evaluate supplier performance and address any issues to ensure a reliable and efficient supply chain across the various departments.
- Monitor order fulfilment, track deliveries and address any discrepancies or delays, expediting order acknowledgment and deliveries where required.
- Maintain optimal stock levels and prevent shortages through JDR MRP system, managing excess stock and purchase orders. Liaising directly with the JDR logistics team.
- Supporting the supply chain with administration and reports to prevent delays in order placement and to provide continuous service to key stakeholders.
- Contact suppliers to resolve price or invoice issues, to progress on time invoicing payments to avoid delays.
Job Requirements
As an Assistant Buyer, you will have previous experience in a purchasing or procurement role. The candidate will possess strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills. In addition to this, the successful candidate will be analytical, numerically astute with strong proven problem-solving abilities.
To be successful in this role the candidate bust also be computer literate, to include competency with Microsoft Office Suite. Minimal travel both UK and internationally may be required so a clean driving license and passport is preferable.
