The Communications Assistant will work within the communications group of Dechert’s global Marketing team to support a variety of communications-related activities. The specialist will help drive Dechert’s brand and marketing strategy through various traditional and digital channels, applying the highest standards of quality, and acting as a brand ambassador inside and outside the firm. The candidate will be an instinctive team player, able to build relationships at all levels in the firm and be able to take responsibility and solve problems independently and as part of a supportive team. In addition to complying with processes, the role requires good judgement and the ability to be creative and flexible in some situations. Familiarity with digital technology is also a must. The assistant will support the EMEA and global communications teams in areas such as, but not limited to, web announcements, other web copy, social media activity, surveys, bios, thought leadership and other brand-building initiatives that relate to Dechert’s messaging and reputation.
Job Description
Duties include but are not limited to:
Digital & Social Media
Drafting and posting social media posts
Creating podcasts, videos and other digital content
Drafting messaging copy for various purposes, including speeches, brochures, etc.
Maintaining website content and drafting/posting new announcements
Editorial
Work with senior communications and BD team members to identify, pursue and execute a campaign led strategy.
Proofing firm copy – eg OnPoints and other materials
Reviewing email marketing materials
Drafting lawyer bios
General
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
University degree with grade of 2.1 or higher.
Journalism experience a plus.
Interest in social media.
Knowledge of digital platforms.
Knowledge of SEO an advantage.
Excellent writing and superior oral and written communication skills.
Proactive problem-solving and a positive can-do attitude.
Knowledge of AP Style and the ability to learn and apply the firm’s writing style guide.
Proven ability to deal with complex subject matter – preferably legal or financial.
Knowledge of the firm’s policies and procedures.
Detail-oriented and organized.
Ability to prioritize and coordinate own work.
Good interpersonal skills.
