Job Description
To assist in the provision of a comprehensive professional Human Resources advisory and support service. Whilst the role will have a particular focus on the arrangements for No Compulsory Redundancy, including the co-ordination of redeployment and support to those with supernumerary status, there will also be a requirement to provide advice on various HR topics to service areas and support to HR colleagues.
Responsibilities
Assist in the provision of a comprehensive professional Human Resources Advisory Service
Co-ordinate arrangements for the implementation of the No Compulsory Redundancy principle in practice.
Participate in grading claims and provide advice on change management
Assist with the provision of Human Resources Administrative Support
Assist in the development of employment policies and practices
Provision of advice and support on the management of sickness absence across the Council
The Individual
Understanding of current Human Resources and local authority issues
Sound knowledge of current good practice within HR environment
The principles of the disciplinary and grievance process
The Preparation of contractual documentation
Provision of advice on conditions of service type issues
Advising managers and employees
Employee relations issues and trade union consultation
Redundancy, redeployment and associated issues
Degree in relevant discipline or equivalent
Hold or working towards Graduate membership of CIPD
Ability to work using initiative and common sense and to take balanced decisions when necessary
Ability to remain impartial and stand own ground
Excellent communication and presentation skills – oral and written
Knowledge of Human Resources policies and legislation and ability to relate it to practical issues
Ability to gain trust of managers
Ability to work accurately and to accept responsibility
Sound knowledge of good practice and ability to give constructive advice under pressure
Outgoing, positive personality
Ability to give presentations
Confident, mature approach
Must respect confidentiality
Ability to relate to people at all levels.
Temporary position for 12 months
