Description of Post The post relates primarily to the teaching, training, assessment and academic administrative direction of apprenticeship including: Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Apprenticeship The Assistant Lecturer will be required to comply with the policy of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology in the choice of teaching and training methods and technologies, and to undertake training to keep abreast of technological developments and changes to the SOLAS apprenticeship programmes. The priority subject areas to be covered include but are not limited to: Commercial/Pack Systems Air Conditioning/Heat Pump Systems Electrical Science Review Electrical Installation Systems Refrigeration PLC/Controls Planned Maintenance Industrial Systems Related Craft Theory Mathematics Computing In addition, the Assistant Lecturer will be required to organise and supervise project work, as specified to meet the Learning Outcomes of the programme. Appointment(s) may be on a permanent/fixed term/pro-rata/part-time basis as required at Assistant Lecturer level. A panel will be created for any vacancies that may arise in the future. Please note: The postholder will be based at the ATU Donegal, Letterkenny Campus. Essential Qualifications Minimum Level 6 Advanced Craft Certificate or equivalent. Applicants must have a minimum of five years post-qualification experience. The person appointed must be capable of teaching Refrigeration and Air Conditioning subjects. Project management, teamwork and leadership skills, and excellent communication skills are absolutely essential. Desirable A graduate and postgraduate qualification in Renewable Energy, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or in a closely related area Industrial experience in a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning environment Teaching experience in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Apprenticeship Membership to relevant association.
