Assistant Lecturers in the Institute of Foundation Studies
£30,000 per annum plus Excellent Benefits (plus £4000 London Weighting if London based and at the centre weekly)
Primarily remote with some work at one of our UK study centres at least 2 days per week in study blocks
Positions available for the following locations: 1 x Leeds, 1 x Manchester, 1 x Birmingham, 2 x London (Ealing, Holborn/Tower Hill)

We are currently looking for a team of Assistant Lecturers to join the Institute of Foundation Studies to support with our distance learning and blended learning Foundation Year programmes, and to provide support to our students on their academic progression.
The Assistant Lecturer post provides an opportunity for an early career academic to gain experience and skills in learning, teaching and assessment practice in a Higher Education context. Under the supervision of experienced academics, you will contribute to teaching at different levels across the distance learning and blended learning (full-time) Foundation Year programme, provide academic support to individuals and groups, contribute to assessment, and undertake administrative activities to support teaching and learning activities.
We have developed a yearlong training programme for you to develop and build your experience for higher education, Arden University and for Foundation Year teaching and supporting. You will be support with learning and teaching experience in a university academic setting.
On our programmes, you will be involved in the following with our Foundation Year students:
- Assist with student welcome week (online) and face to face in centres
- Support students with their assessments including 1-1s, group tutorials and scaffolded assessment feedback sessions
- Assist students with reminders and tracking those who are at risk of non-submission via phone calls, online 1-1 tutorials and face to face assessment tutorials
- Work closely to develop our assessment and resit clinics
- Develop/create interactive videos, podcasts and activities that could be shared on iLearn and in class activity
- Student Q&A’s forum on our VLE
About You:
You will need to have an honours degree in an appropriate subject area (business, computing or social sciences), some teaching or coaching experience and have/or willing to attain Advance HE Fellowship. You will have the ability to effectively communicate scaffolded material, as well as contribute to programme enhancement; have excellent breadth and depth of Business, Computing and/or Social Sciences and be confident in the use of e-learning technologies and the use of all Microsoft 365 tools and applications.
