Job description

We are looking for a dynamic Assistant Manager. You will be a problem-solver and work well with your line manager, providing reassurance and support to staff and manager. This is a full time and permanent position. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is excited about change and can take challenges in their stride.
The Kent Autistic Trust enables autistic people to have the best quality life. We provide outstanding expertise and experience in supporting autistic people. We offer quality living, vocational, educational, therapeutic, social, occupational, and positive specialist support services to over one hundred autistic people. As a registered charity we represent the needs of autistic people and their families, currently supporting over five thousand families throughout Kent. As a service provider we strive to achieve good and outstanding CQC ratings and have been able to maintain this position for the last 6 years, although our Day Services do not fall within CQC registration requirements.
Does this sound like you?
A natural leader with solid supervisory skills and a coaching mindset Prior experience in the adult social care sector ideally with autism or LD community Excellent problem-solving skills IT literacy and confidence with digital systems A driver who is comfortable to drive company vehicles including small minibus.
Key to this role will be the relationship that you build with the onsite Manager and staff team, as you will collaborate with them to recruit, retain, and develop staff, including undertaking regular supervisions and competency assessment - so you will need to be at ease with problem solving, training and giving constructive feedback to staff. This role will also work closely with the QA team and Regional Manager.
The role requires someone who is prepared to be extremely flexible and can quickly adapt to changing situations. This role will be mainly hands on. Indeed, working with the team, you will be a role model for practice leadership helping those around you to build positive and engaging relationships with the people we support, families, staff, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders. To succeed you must already have solid Team Leader or Deputy/Assistant Manager experience and be able to provide reassuring leadership in an emergency. The Assistant Manager roles at KAT are our ideal natural succession for future management roles and therefore there is opportunity for progression for aspirational staff into management roles across the Trust.
Meet the Team:
Our Club 21 site is a lively day service provision that supports 8 individuals (male & female). The service is based on three floors and has individual areas as well as communal areas to meet the needs of the people they support. The individuals participate in a wide range of activities within the community including horse riding, swimming, visiting local zoos and museums, and attending courses at the local adult education centre. They also like a spot of baking back at Club 21. The specialist staff team in situ is looking forward to welcoming a new colleague to their award-winning team and has suggested we let you know they love a bit of karaoke!
If you are a positive, forward-thinking, and compassionate Specialist Support Worker (hopefully you love a sing-along as much as they do) then we would love to hear from you.
