Full-time Assistant Manager- Maldon Rd Birch CO2 ONU- driver required due to location. Monday- Friday 39 hours pw (9-5 Mon-Thurs, 9-4 Friday) plus on-call shifts nights and weekends. GBP13 ph = GBP26364 basic salary p.a. Permanent.
NVQ Level 5 required.
Main purpose of position: To support the registered manager in all aspects of Essex Care Consortium Ltd management including taking temporary charge in the absence of the manager, to liaise with the directors.
To ensure the staff meet the needs of service users in a way that respects the dignity of the individual. To participate with manager on-call system.
Liaising with: Service users, Essex Care Consortium Ltd staff, manager, directors , relatives and friends of service users, outside agencies, professionals, members of the public.
Recruitment, employment and training
- To interview staff.
- To provide/arrange Essex Care Consortium Ltd induction training for new staff within first three months of employment and monitor appropriate paperwork
- To ensure all staff complete and keep up to date any training provided by EssexCare Consortium.
- To be responsible and accountable for all training files ensuring they are completed and maintained following the laid out legislation from National Care Standards.
- To organise and arrange all staff training as necessary.
- To participate in any training offered by Essex Care Consortium.
- To conduct supervisions and appraisals with Team Leaders.
- To complete staff monthly rotas and liaise with manager before publication.
- To ensure sickness/holiday folder is maintained and kept up to date. Liaise with Manager regarding any issues of frequent sickness and patterns arising.
- To conduct back to work interviews, ensuring that sickness/self certificates are completed and filed where necessary.
- To implement and ensure Essex Care Consortium Ltd policy regarding staff conduct and dresscode is upheld.
- To ensure and support the manager with Essex Care Consortium Ltd grievance anddisciplinary procedures.
- To ensure and support Essex Care Consortium Ltd complaints procedure and assist the managerwhere necessary.
- In the absence of the manager liaising with directors and other managers following through the disciplinary procedure in suspending a member of staff.
Care of service users
To carry out referral appointments and meetings regarding admission of service users, completing any necessary paperwork as required.
- To support service users with their admission and discharge transitions.
- To support Team Leaders with regard to welcoming new service users and their relatives to Essex Care Consortium Ltd ensuring the completing of all Plans (i.e. looking after myself), guidelines, infringement of rights and risk assessments are written and in place within 24 hours.
- To monitor the following are maintained to Essex Care Consortium Ltd standards: bedrooms, clothing/supervision of cases, personal hygiene, living, environments, menus/nutrition, monitoring of health.
- To monitor and maintain Keyworker folders ensuring staff carry out all responsibilities of the Keyworker role to Essex Care Consortium Ltd standards.
- To ensure staff understand, maintain and promote independence by following the core values:Privacy, dignity, respect, fulfillment, choice, independence, self -esteem, safety
- To ensure, monitor, and support staff producing care plans in conjunction with service users following guidelines provided by Essex Care Consortium Ltd ensuring that each Care Plan remains up to date.
- To ensure service users wishes and opinions are listened to
- To ensure a wide range of activities are offered to service users with appropriate staffing
- To take responsibility for authorising my money forms with regard to serviceuser finance.
Protection of service users
- be aware of and ensure the appropriate use of the following procedures and policies: all policies and procedures contained in the protection of service users section within the Essex Care Consortium Ltd Staff Handbook; Essex County Council Vulnerable Adults Policy; Essex County Council Guidelines for the Protection of Children.
- To report to the manager anything, however minor, that is a cause for concern regarding the care of a service user and to take appropriate action. If the appropriate manager is not available contact the other registered manager.
- At all times, listen and take notice of what a service user is saying or communicating.
- To attend Vulnerable Adult Meetings alongside the manager.
Emergency procedures
- To implement and understand all the emergency procedures contained in the handbook (e.g. buzzer system, fire alarm system, generators etc.)
- To take charge and give appropriate direction in the event of an emergency or crisis following guidelines and procedures set out by Essex Care Consortium.
- To ensure all staff follow Essex Care Consortium Ltd policy on intervention management and restraint contained in the staff handbook.
- To ensure that when an emergency, Health and Safety issue arises outside office hours, contact the Health and Safety Officer as part of the on call procedure.
Communication
- To ensure you and staff work within a Total Communication framework.
- To ensure you and staff liaise with each other, service users, managers, relatives, outside agencies in a professional manner.
- To ensure all required documentation and minutes of meetings you have taken are completed and filed appropriately and kept up to date.
- To hold staff meetings when necessary following legislation laid down by National Care Standards Commission.
- To ensure all staff maintain appropriate confidentiality with regard to all aspects of their work at all times.
- To take or attend appointments and meetings as required ensuring all appropriate preparations have been made e.g. reports, review packs, history etc.
- To assist manager in ensuring all staff answer telephones and welcome visitors in an appropriate and professional manner.
- Also ensuring the visitors book is filled in appropriately.
