Job description

We’ve got an interesting opportunity within our busy merchandising function to work closely with our Buyers and support the Merchandising Manager. This role is based in our head office in Swindon and we can offer hybrid working with 3 days in the office and 2 at home.
The Assistant Merchandiser will create demand and stock plans for defined furniture categories and to execute purchasing plans to meet the availability and stock targets.
You’ll love all things data as you’ll be analysing performance of ranges, sales forecasting and supporting the Merchandising Manager with analytics to understand performance by product and supplier and identify supply chain improvements and opportunities.
Providing accurate detailed analysis and you will use your communication skills to build relationships and work closely with suppliers, buyers, and the rest of the merchandising team.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting buying during preseason range, build activities and drive inseason trading activities for defined categories and associated SKUs
Achieving the merchandising KPIs
Management of the Demand and Purchasing process to achieve the forecast accuracy and stock objectives
Historical analytics - to support the in the preseason analysis process to understand performance by product and supplier and identify supply chain improvements and opportunities
Sales Forecasting – to manage the forecasting application and create preseason SKU forecasts and align with the assortment planning process
Stock Planning and Order Management – to develop preseason stock plan models to meet the stock, leadtime and availability targets; ensure timely raising of purchase orders and optimum efficiency of the supply chain with the use of ABC stock classification;
Sourcing plans – to support the set up of new suppliers and support analysis of existing supplier performance
Supply chain plans – to provide long to medium horizon timephased volume/cube plans/analytics to supply chain colleagues
Supply chain reporting - Provide supplier reports, generate information for monthly supplier meetings
Review sales, stock and orders and delivery schedule for key ranges and items to determine rebuys and rescheduling, order adjustments to meet availability, leadtime and fulfilment targets
Skills and Experience:
Previous experience working within a Merchandising or Supply chain role
Analytical problem solver with a high level of accuracy
Good knowledge and experience with ERP systems
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Experience working with Demand Planning software desirable
Computer literacy, including intermediate/advanced Excel
Experience working with a global supplier base
