Job description

Supporting the Press Shop Supervisor and willing to learn how to setup and operate various power press and other machinery within the Press Shop. Ensuring a safe and tidy work area in order to meet the demands of our customers and all internal stakeholders. Maintaining all necessary safety and regulatory daily logs/records as required by law.

Core duties:

  • Maintain safe working practices and observe Health & Safety regulations in accordance with Company Policy & current legislation at all times.
  • Maintain a high standard of Housekeeping ensuring areas are clean, tidy and hazard free.
  • Complete tasks within a specified timeframe.
  • Tool changeovers including set and operate.
  • Change over materials (Sheet, Strip, Coil, etc.).
  • Day to day maintenance of Presses and associated equipment.
  • Updating daily safety and regulatory logs/records.
  • Conduct monthly cycle counts.
  • Cover for Press Setter and other machinery operators as required.
  • The duties and responsibilities in this job description are not restrictive and the post holder may be required to undertake any other duties which may be required from time to time.

The successful candidate will need:

  • Willingness to learn all aspects of the role and have a desire to develop own abilities
  • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to read, verify and interpret production drawings, material specifications and technical standards.
  • Knowledge of the materials, machinery and equipment related to metal fabrication/manufacturing advantageous.
  • Self-motivated, with a high level of urgency, attention to detail and a positive can-do attitude.
  • A basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing Techniques and reporting KPI’s would be advantageous.

Desirable:

  • PUWER – Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations certificate
  • Forklift licence and experience.

Working hours as follows, with flexibility required:

Mon to Thu: 07:45 – 12:00 and 12:30 - 16:30

Fri: 07:45 – 11:45
