Assistant Production Manager

Elevation Recruitment Group is working exclusively with a leading manufacturer to recruit an Assistant Production Manager to join their facility based in Ilkeston.

Hours - Day - Mon-Friday - 7am - 3.30pm with some flexibility

Reporting to the Deputy Production Manager the Assistant Production Manager will lead the production teams to ensure safe, compliant and efficient production within the deadline and agreed cost restraints.

Duties of the Assistant Production Manager will include:

• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental procedures and legislation
• Ensure that product quality exceeds customer expectations. (Internal & external customers)
• Ensure repairs are effective whilst investigating root cause analysis 
• Manage compliance with QA inspections ensuring daily QA checks are performed and reported in full
• Delivery of production outputs in line with targets and objectives
• Meet or exceed consistent & sustained achievements against specific KPI targets
• Effective management of all resources to ensure just in time delivery of materials and other resources aligned to delivery of production plan
• Develop a fully flexible team with effective Standard Operating Procedure
• Identification & implementation of productivity improvements using lean principles, and continuous improvement philosophies
• Be aware of associated costs of production and endeavour to reduce them, using the 8-waste principles
• Train and develop the production team to maximise efficiency and staff development 
• Contribute to improvement initiatives and developments and provide any other services as required in support of these initiatives
• Produce weekly reports summarizing plant performance & improvement objectives

We would be keen to speak with Assistant Production Managers who have the following skills and experience:

• Degree or other equivalent higher education qualification
• Operational experience in construction end-product or manufacturing environments
• IOSH Certificate in Managing Safely
• Experience in implementing Lean / leading Continuous Improvement events. Six Sigma Green Belt minimum
• Specific knowledge and experience in managing production teams
