Salary 27kn to 32k Pending Experience
My Client is based in the heart of Chelmsford. They are expanding the business across Essex, London, Kent, and Cambridge and are now in need of an Assistant Quantity Surveyor. They are looking to interview suitable candidates as soon as possible to join their team as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, supporting the Director and Project Manager on new and existing projects. Their Office is based in Chelmsford City Centre. Ideally qualified or working towards degree level or equivalent. Construction experiences are to an advantage.
Assisting and working towards the below responsibilities
Budgeting
Assisting the tendering process
Cashflow forecasting
Subcontractor procurement and negotiation
Monthly valuations with the Client's QS
Change management.
Pricing of variations and the provision of timely cost advice
Remeasurement
Working closely with the Contract Manager
Assisting in the delivery of the projects
Subcontract account management to FA
Monthly CVRs
Reporting to the Director
Assisting with closing out of project Final Accounts
Preparation of tender submissions for all allocated work
Engaging with specialist subcontractors, suppliers, designers, and utility companies (or similar) to ensure a competitive and accurate tender is submitted.
Establish the resources required for each project.
Measuring and take-offs from drawings to build-up of tender price from first principles based on plans, programme and scope of works.
Cost Planning
Producing bills-of-quantities
Attending Pre and post Contract meetings with clients
Proactively seek new leads and fostering new clients
Ensure the correct use of labour, materials, and plant in line with the specification.
Assisting Quantity Surveyor with costs, reports, and pricing
Attend pre-start meetings with Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager
General admin duties
Minimum requirements
Have or working towards degree level or studying NVQ Level 4/5
Team orientated with a positive attitude and good sense of humour.
You need to be a motivated individual, with the enthusiasm to learn and develop.
Productive approach to problem-solving
Excellent communication skills and able to communicate across the business.
Efficient Microsoft skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe knowledge)
Can commute into the office.
