ABOUT THE ROLE
Working as part of a growing ESG specialist team, this role requires you to assist clients and project teams by identifying, planning and delivering carbon reduction targets and strategies, in line with client’s net-zero asset plans.
Within this role you will be contributing to the transformation of property portfolios into the sustainable real estate assets of the future.
You will be responsible for carrying out whole life carbon assessments and assisting with pre redevelopment audits for a variety of commercial properties including offices, retail, and industrial looking at both refurbishment and new developments. You will have the chance to assess these projects during both the design and construction stages considering different levels of available information.
You will be expected to utilise and deliver results using your technical experience, whether this be in surveying, architecture, or engineering including collecting and analysing data, conducting site audits to identify key materials and their condition, and estimating material quantities using as-built plans and measured surveys.
WHAT MATTERS MOST IN THIS ROLE
Your ability to collaborate with different specialist teams internally is imperative to this role, in order to deliver first class service to our clients. Regular contact with the wider ESG Technical and Advisory teams, Building Consultancy and Smart Build teams, as well as the Property Management team is compulsory to your success.
You will exert high levels of organisation and be well practiced in managing multiple instructions simultaneously. Attention to detail and the ability to communicate complex data analysis in a clear, concise way is essential.
A comprehensive awareness of the RICS Whole Life Carbon Assessment methodology is expected, along with a good understanding of the building construction process, design principles and construction materials.
A full UK driving licence is required as you will need to be willing to travel nationwide when required.
Other duties will include:
- Assessing and interpreting drawings, schedules and consultant reports to identify information relevant to the assessment
- Using AutoCAD to take-off measurements for materials quantities calculations
- Identifying appropriate EPDs / datapoints for in-scope materials
- Performing carbon assessments using OneClickLCA
- Analysing & Interpreting OneClickLCA output data in Excel
- Reporting key findings, analysis and recommendations to the client and project team
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU
Ideally you will have a technical qualification relating to the built environment, such as building surveying, architecture, or engineering. Post qualification experience working in a similar role or within the real estate industry is preferred.
Previous experience using AutoCAD, OneClickLCA, and Excel is beneficial to the role.
You should have knowledge of common carbon assessment scoping mechanisms such as LETI, BREEAM and GLA.
You will be expected to create and deliver accurate client reports with close attention to detail, so exceptional numerical and analytical skills is essential.
