Assistant VAT Accountant/ Part Qualified Role/ Study Support/ Career Development/ Excellent Benefits/ Hybrid Working (2 Days WFH)
I am looking for an ambitious Assistant VAT Accountant to join my globally operating clients VAT team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Part-Qualified Accountant looking to grow their career within an industry-leading organisation. You will be responsible for managing a high volume of high value transactions and so previous exposure to completing international VAT returns within an industry position is highly advantageous. Candidates with relevant, transferable skills who are keen to advance their VAT career will also be considered.

Responsibilities:
- Preparation, validation and submission of the businesses UK, European and Middle Eastern VAT returns.
- Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of VAT accounting in the general ledger, in accordance with the business timetable.
- Reconciliation of all UK/European VAT balance sheet accounts.
- Leading monthly balance sheet review meetings with the Head of Financial Operations to discuss any relevant findings.
- To take ownership for the preparation, validation, and submission of monthly Intrastat and ESCL for all VAT registered group companies in compliance relevant regulations.
- Ensuring any changes in the business (e.g. new territories/registrations) are understood and the appropriate actions are taken to ensure correct reporting and compliance.
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships with all VAT stakeholders within the wider finance team and business.
- Support continuous improvement plans to drive increased quality, efficiency and customer experience.
- Support projects and implementations of processes as required.
Required Experience:
- Part-qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with the desire to continue further study.
- Prior experience of completing VAT returns across multiple currencies.
- A desire to progress and develop within a VAT focussed role and career.
- Analytical skill that can be applied in a logical approach to new challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to develop trusting and credible relationships at all levels of the business, across various teams.
- To possess a questioning and inquisitive approach to the role, with the ability to ask questions and suggest relevant process improvements as required.
- The ability to analyse and interpret significant quantities of financial data and relate back to business issues.
- A flexible and adaptable approach to tasks with a focus upon reaching the overall goals of the team.
- A positive and motivated personality and approach to tasks and duties.
- Advanced Excel and computerised systems skills
