Position summary
We are seeking an Associate Relationship Manager - Mandarin Speaking to join the Financial Institutions department in London.
The job holder will be responsible for developing, maintaining and strengthening business relationships with Financial Institutions (FI) with specific focus on Banks across the Europe, Middle East, Africa and Americas (EMEAA) regions. This is a full time 18 month fixed term contract.
Essential responsibilities include but not limited to
- Develop relationships with EMEAA banks and coordinate with internal departments and product managers in order to deliver high quality product and service coverage to FI clients
- Proactively develop existing client business through the cross sale of the Bank’s relevant products and services to increase both interest and non-interest income and to optimise client Risk-Adjusted Return On Capital (RAROC)
- Develop new client relationships through the marketing of the Bank’s relevant products and services to generate incremental interest and non-interest income
- Work closely with relevant stakeholders to support the development of the FI business including reporting developments and activity in the sector as well as the coordination of the onboarding and credit approval processes
- Identify lending opportunities within the portfolio based on client needs and the Bank’s credit appetite. Negotiate terms and prepare the credit proposal. Coordinate communication with the Agent bank and internal departments to complete the execution of the transaction and manage the post-lending monitoring after execution of the transaction
- Prepare the Annual Reviews of EMEAA banks as required including coordinating the credit requests from product teams, present the cases to Credit Committee and complete the administration of the limit once it has been approved
- Work with the second line of defence (2LoD) to identify and manage risks. This includes cooperation with Financial Crime & Compliance to ensure that necessary regulatory guidelines are followed and with Risk Management to ensure guidelines are followed on risks such as operational, credit, market and sovereign risks
Person specification
- Degree educated preferably in Business Finance or Economics
- CFA or equivalent industry qualification is preferred
- Experienced at business development and building and managing institutional client relationships at all levels is desirable
- Solid risk management skills related to maintaining a portfolio of international banks, to include credit risk assessments and proposals and other credit management activities
- Good practical knowledge of the regulatory environment in the UK, the EMEA region and globally, in particular related to AML, CTF, Sanctions and other aspects of KYC/CDD
- Good practical knowledge of Global Markets products (i.e. FX, Money Markets, DCM, Credit Sales, Repo and Derivatives Trading) and Transactional Banking products (i.e. Cash Management and Trade Finance in multi-currencies)
- Fast learner who is able to work in a fast paced environment
- Team player
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Mandarin
