Job Description:
PSD are supporting a real estate investment firm that is primarily set up to acquire land and enhance its value through the securing of residential planning consents, targeting opportunities within London and the SE.
The business has successfully raised a second and larger Fund which they aim to deploy over the next 3 – 5 years with a focus on large residential led opportunities.
Role Description:
Given the success, the business are now looking to recruit an Analyst/Associate into their investment team based in the heart of London to assist with all aspects of the investment process. The ideal candidate would have experience in analysis and underwriting of large mixed-use investment / development opportunities as well as understanding of the planning & development process in the UK.
The investment team are collectively responsible for day-to-day fund management, sourcing and executing new and managing existing investments. The successful candidate will focus on assisting the team with underwriting and sourcing of new investment opportunities.
Team Background:
The team are from a variety of backgrounds including private equity, banking, development and agency. The principals of the firm have an extensive track record of UK property investment, a deep knowledge of planning laws, extensive local and national government relationships and in the last five years have collectively been responsible for delivering planning consents for over 30,000 homes and 5 million sq ft of commercial space.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the team throughout the entire investment cycle, from acquisition through to achieving planning permission and exiting investments.
- Evaluation of prospective investment opportunities including underwriting and financial analysis, investment committee presentations and acquisition due diligence.
- Advanced financial modelling of new and existing investments and improving on the extant suite of models. Create excel models from scratch across a variety of assets classes with a focus on large-scale residential development.
- Producing bid recommendations, submitting bids and reviewing legal documents.
- Creating investment memos and fundraising materials for presentations to internal and external parties.
- Fund-level financial modelling and producing quarterly reports for LPs.
- Creating fundraising materials and maintaining the fundraising data room.
- Maintaining internal databases and producing weekly internal materials.
- Deal origination through continued production and tracking of internal databases and direct outreach.
- Ad-hoc analysis for senior management.
- Liaising with and supporting other teams within the business as necessary.
- Building and utilising a network of industry contacts.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent numerical and modelling skills, with the ability to build models in Microsoft Excel from scratch.
- Experience in the creation of PowerPoint templates and presentations.
- Entrepreneurially minded with an ability to work independently.
- Strong work ethic and an ability to contribute to a positive culture and work well under pressure.
