This firm is looking for a talented Audit Manager to join their Real Estate and Construction team in London.
Your new role
Your role would be working directly with partners to provide client-focused and commercially aware services in an efficient and professional manner. You will mentor, train and manage more junior members of staff at both trainee and post-qualified levels to enable them to develop, progress and reach their potential. Additionally, there is the opportunity to be involved with formal training, should you wish. Whilst this role is predominantly audit work, there is opportunity to carry out non-audit work, including tax compliance/advice and other ad-hoc services.
Key responsibilitiesManage an audit portfolio (£500k+) ensuring that for each client:

  • An audit file is produced that meets the ISA\'s and the firms quality requirements in all respects,
  • All deadlines are met,
  • There is proactive engagement and communication with the client, resulting in high quality client service.
  • Day to day leadership of audits including being the key contact for the client, engagement partner and supporting team members;
  • Leadership of all aspects of audit assignment, including job planning and budgeting, time and project management,
  • Delegating to and supervising the team,
  • Effective and timely communication to engagement partner and senior client contacts,
  • Detailed review of file, debriefing team with a key focus on quality and feedback
  • Planning jobs to ensure audits are carried out in the most efficient way possible while considering firm-wide productivity.
  • Promoting the interests of the firm with all employed by the firm, clients, prospective clients and other third parties.
  • Motivation and encouragement of the team, providing timely constructive feedback.
  • Being a proactive team player, bringing the best practice from your own experience into the group and sharing perspectives on how we develop it.
  • Overseeing and mentoring managers, qualified staff and trainees, providing assistance when required.
  • Assisting in the motivation and supervision of people (especially trainees).
  • Assisting people in finding suitable work to keep them fully occupied, also ensuring their development and progress and all team being fully debriefed after audit jobs.
  • Identifying account development opportunities with clients and progressing these in liaison with the Partner.
  • Assisting with preparation and presentation of new client pitches.


What you\'ll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, ideally you will have recent experience within a UK practice, the following is also desirable:

  • Qualified to ACA/ACCA or equivalent
  • Experience managing both people and a portfolio
  • Experience leading audit teams, including group audits
  • High level of familiarity with UK auditing and accounting standards
  • Commercial awareness and being able to apply and communicate technical knowledge in a clear and commercial way
  • Experience in both substantive and control-based audits, group reporting and cross border groups
  • Expertise in delivery of the primary accounting frameworks (UK GAAP, FRS 101, FRS 102 and IFRS)
  • Commitment to client care and service beyond expectation
  • Commitment to audit quality and attention to detail
  • High level of personal motivation and drive, and ability to motivate and encourage others
