Job Title: Autism Pastoral Support Worker
Location: Shires Oakham, Rutland, LE15 6JB
Salary: £18,500 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:00-15:30
Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

Due to growth in service, we are recruiting an Autism Pastoral Support Worker to join our team at Oakham Shires School.
About the role
We are looking to recruit an experienced Autism Practitioner who will fulfil a complementary role to that of the teaching and learning team to support and promote the social, emotional and educational curriculum of pupils and young people (aged 11-18) within our setting. The Autism Pastoral Support Worker will work in partnership with school staff and families to enable our pupils and young people to succeed in their educational placement and gain life skills in line with their EHCP.
You will be educated to GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English and ideally you will have experience of supporting autistic teenagers that have struggled throughout their school journey to achieve their academic and life goals; you will play a pivotal role in working with our pupils to meet their Education Health Care Plan outcomes empowering and equipping them with the tools they need to be happy, healthy and make their way in the world.
Key responsibilities would include:
- To compliment the delivery of the school curriculum.
- To provide Pastoral Support to students in order that they can successfully access their school placement on a day-to-day basis.
- To support students to meet the annual targets of their EHCP.
- To liaise with clinical, teaching and support staff to share strategies for support.
- To participate in the development and/or review of all support documentation including risk assessments, individual learning plans and opportunity plans.
