Job summary
We are looking for an AV Technician to join us and be part of a professional team in the provision of technical presentation services to events’ primarily within the QEII Centre. With a particular interest/specialism in lighting, you will have good technical knowledge to operate Audio Visual technical equipment on events, Rigging & De-rigging of audio, lighting, Video/Data Sets and Display Equipment in accordance with General Health & Safety regulation and procedures.
You will also have excellent communication skills to work with our clients.

We are the QEII Centre, the largest dedicated conference and exhibition space in central London. Our venue offers world- class facilities for high profile conferences, conventions, exhibitions, and events, hosting over 400 national and international events each year.

QEII Live
QEII Live, is part of the Operations Department, which prides itself on delivering exemplary levels of customer service to enhance the QEII visitor experience. QEII LIVE deliver Audio Visual services for the centre and are a key department to the success of the Centre incorporating many specialists in the AV industry. They work closely with event managers to organise and operate most events at the centre by providing first class AV technology to our clients
Job Purpose
Key Tasks
- Rigging and de-rigging audio, lighting, audio visual, video/data, sets and display equipment in accordance with general health and safety regulations and procedures.
- To operate Audio Visual technical equipment on events.
- To undertake general duties under instruction from the Senior AV & IT Logistics Manager or Discipline Head, including maintaining a tidy and efficient working environment.
- To represent QEII LIVE department as a Client Liaison Technician. Which is a conduit between the client and the Project Management on an event.
- To assist with development of facilities and to extend the boundaries of achievable operations.
- To assist with inventory storage of equipment including repairs.
- To undertake training both internal and external in all relevant technical subjects.
- To assist the Senior AV & IT Logistics Manager or Discipline Head as to where improvements may be made in day-to-day operations of the department.
- To deploy equipment at their own discretion if essential to the effective operation of an event. If it is to be billed to a client, a check with the Senior AV & IT Logistics Manager or Head of Audio Visual & Event IT or the AV IT Sales & PM, before it is deployed, is required.
- Some basic, immediate decisions may be made based on procedure, but more important decisions will be made in conjunction with senior members of Centre Staff.
- Any other duties as requested by the Head of Audio Visual & Event IT or Senior AV & IT Logistics Manager (i.e., weekend work).
- To assist in the delivery of Event ICT, which would include but not limited to, running network cables, basic network troubleshooting, VLAN association, IP subnet address configuration, setting up printers and IP Phones.
Additional information:
Technical knowledge with audio visual equipment is required, especially event stage lighting.
Experience in a relevant field, e.g., conference, theatre, or TV.

Experience
- Excellent knowledge of Corporate Audio-Visual Equipment. Up to date technical knowledge.
- Proactive team player, working across multiple departments. Excellent time management, outstanding attention tom detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skill with the ability to articulate with our client base at times of event pressure.
- To have the ability and confidence to identify risks and make dynamic decisions to protect the centre and the client
- Be punctual, presentable, attentive.
- Qualification in Audio Visual or equivalent experience
- IOSH trained or equivalent experience in Working at Height and manual handling knowledge
- Any rigging and slinging training
