Job summary
This role is to assist the Physiologists with the outpatient and inpatient Sleep Disordered Breathing and Lung Function Service. Role includes set up patients on nasal CPAP, performing basic lung function tests (Spirometry) within our busy Outpatient service, and assisting Physiologists with home oxygen assessment and Cardio Pulmonary Exercise testing. This role requires you to be flexible as you will be you will be required to work across sites.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Responsibility
1.To plan, undertake and perform simple initial interpretation on a range of diagnostic assessments such investigations could include:
Within the Sleep Disordered Breathing Service:
Overnight sleep apnoea screen setup/study download/provision of questionnaires
Set up patients on Nasal CPAP and Autotitration.
Downloading information from CPAP and Autotitration machines
NOX setup for home use
Mask fitting and repair.
Giving out and downloading oximeters for domicillary use.
Within the Lung Function Service:
Spirometry, peak flow rates, flow/volume loops
Performing Spirometry and flow volume loop measurements.
Reversibility to inhaled bronchodilators.
Seated and supine measurements of Vital Capacity.
Mouth pressure and sniff pressure measurements.
Assisting with 6 minute walk tests exhaled and nasal nitric oxide
exhaled carbon monoxide
Spot check oximetry.

Qualifications
Essential
GCSE English and Mathematics or equivalent.
ARTP accredited or equivalent qualification (NVQ3 level)
Experience
Essential
Must be able to maintain accuracy and precision in all work undertaken
Must be able to follow and uphold guidelines and protocols with regard to all tests performed
Desirable
Some experience of Respiratory Physiology measurement techniques/laboratory techniques
