Job Description


The Nuclear Medicine Department at Queen Alexandra Hospital is a fun, dynamic, vibrant and progressive department , located on the South coast of England in a lively city with deep historical roots.

We currently have two vacancies for an enthusiastic, driven, and motivated Band 6 Nuclear MedicineRadiographer / Technologist with a keen interest to specialise in Nuclear Medicine scanning to join our team.

The department has the benefit of two Siemens gamma cameras (Symbia S and Symbia T) and a newly installed GE 870DR in a clinical setting. .

We are a busy, progressive unit, with a very friendly and caring atmosphere, currently operating from 08:30 - 16:30 with occasional Saturday shifts. There is no night shift or on-call rotas.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical/Professional

  • Proactively and positively contribute to the achievement of the patient experience through individual and team effort. Support your team members to deliver on their functional-relevant objectives through offering advice, guidance and support as appropriate.
  • Participate in departmental activities and assist with risk control, ensuring that approved budgets are spent effectively and in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • Liaison with Senior Professionals and related functions to ensure that work is neither overlooked nor duplicated. Build and sustain effective communications with other roles involved in the shared projects, programmes or tasks as required.
  • Maintain and continuously improve specialist knowledge in an aspect of Health Service which significantly contributes to the Trust’s stated objectives & aims.

Qualifications


Essential

  • Post graduate degree in Nuclear Medicine is preferred, but graduate qualification in Nuclear Medicine will be considered
  • A current state registration certificate is desirable
  • Have a portfolio evidence of CPD

Experience

Desirable

  • Previous NHS experience in work undertaken prior to, or during undergraduate studies.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Demonstrate specialised keyboard skills required for image manipulation
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team or alone
  • Good communication skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • High levels of concentration required
  • Demonstrate co-ordination and sensory skills required for precise positioning of patients with narrow margin for error
  • Understanding of current Ionising Radiation Regulations
