Job summary

This is a pivotal role within the department management team, designed to strengthen leadership, management, research, clinical competency and education within the Invasive Cath Lab Service.

The post holder will develop, lead and manage the Invasive service across the HGS sites (Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Solihull Hospital and Good Hope Hospital), and will directly oversee and clinically lead the physiologists working in the Cardiac Catheter Labs, taking the lead in teaching, training and assessment in those areas. The post will include staff PDR, CPD and training supervision of PTP/STP students.

The post holder will be given the opportunity to maintain their BHRS/IBRHE accreditation.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good level of secondary education and appropriate undergraduate qualifications
  • BSc Clinical Physiology or equivalent plus a minimum of 4 years post qualification experience
  • Full BHRS or IBRHE
  • RCCP registration
  • Current RCCP/HCPC registration

Experience

Essential

  • Awareness and understanding of current and emerging developments in Cardiology and the wider Health Service.
  • Formal lecturing or teaching of senior medical staff in a clinical environment Highly self-motivated, with willingness to attend course/conferences to keep abreast of new developments
  • Conscientious approach and attention to detail
  • Committed to raising the profile of Cardiac Science
  • Strong leadership and team building skills
  • Able to relate to and communicate with patients and staff from all levels and backgrounds
  • Demonstrable ability to lead, manage and sustain change in a clinical environment
  • Able to teach and communicate with Physiology students and medical staff.
  • Able to meet deadlines.
