Salary:                  £32,076.00  - £33,945.00

Hours:                  37 per week, Term Time Only. Required for September 2024.

Contract:              Permanent

Location:              Technorth, 9 Harrogate Road, Leeds, LS7 3NB. Hybrid working is available

As a Behaviour Change Specialist you’ll thrive on supporting schools engaging with our Health and Wellbeing programmes that facilitate the involvement of pupils/students in schools developing responsibility and leadership.

It’s not only about producing reports and collecting data from schools - important though that is - this is a ‘hands-on’ role that will involve you in delivering some of the services’ key programmes in schools, in particular, to support our Public Health commissions: HENRY 5-12, Anti-microbial resistance (AMR) as well as broader PSHE Education.

About you

As a Behaviour Change Specialist, you will bring to the role:

  • An ability to identify good practice and work developmentally with schools to support improvements in Health and Wellbeing.
  • Good inter-/intra-personal skills that transmit energy, commitment, a ‘can-do’ approach and passion for improving health outcomes for pupils. 
  • An ability to work independently on your own initiative and as part of a team.
  • An ability to work flexibly and be adaptable to change to assist other Teams within the service as required commensurate to grade. 
  • Experience of working with children and young people.

About the role 

As our next Behaviour Change Specialist, you’ll bring motivation, creativity and energy to coordinate and deliver support to build on, and develop, school engagement with associated Health and Wellbeing programmes facilitating development of pupils responsibility and leadership. 

Contributing to the city’s Children and Young People Plan (CYPP) and Leeds’ ambition to be a child friendly city you will work collaboratively with members of the wider team and others in achieving this. 

The role is integral to our Health and Wellbeing Services which are school facing services with oversight of the Healthy Schools Programme for which we have had a remit since 2000. Subsequent development over 24 years has seen us take on, and deliver, a broad range of health and wellbeing support to schools.

Job purpose

To deliver support on Health & Wellbeing Services programmes.

Responsibilities

  • To support schools working with the Health and Wellbeing programmes.
  • To co-ordinate school engagement with the Health and Wellbeing programmes.
  • To develop resources and materials required for delivery.
  • To collect data from schools to measure impact.
  • To produce reports, as and when required, to provide evidence of progress.
  • To work with key organisations such as the West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (WYICB), Leeds University, Leeds Beckett University and Public Health.
  • To undertake other duties appropriate to the post as required by the Health and Wellbeing Services.

Qualifications   

  • Degree or equivalent qualification

Essential requirements 

It is essential that the candidate should be able to demonstrate the following criteria for the post. Candidates will only be shortlisted for interview if they can demonstrate that they meet all the essential requirements.

  • Ability to devise and facilitate in-school Health and Wellbeing interventions with pupils.
  • Ability to develop resources and materials to support the Health and Wellbeing programme.
  • Ability to work in a developmental way and gain credibility with Headteachers. 
  • Ability to identify good practice and work developmentally with schools to support Health and Wellbeing.
  • Good inter-/intra-personal skills that transmit energy, commitment and passion for improving health outcomes for young people. 
  • Ability to liaise with agencies to develop strong and effective working partnerships.
  • Effective presentation and facilitation skills. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Monitoring and evaluation skills.
  • Report writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in collaborative partnership with key stakeholders.
  • A positive ‘can-do’ set of personal skills that enable and anticipate resourceful /creative responses to change.
  • An in-depth knowledge of Health and Wellbeing programmes
  • A knowledge of how Health and Wellbeing contributes to improved learning and whole-school/setting improvement - in relation to environmental, behavioural and emotional health factors. 
  • Thorough, up to date knowledge and expertise in the area of Health and Wellbeing in relation to children and young people.
  • Knowledge of Health and Wellbeing related research
  • Knowledge of, and familiarity with, current government policy (DH and DfE), relating to Health and Wellbeing priorities for young people, (including NICE guidance, and evidence based practice). 
  • A thorough knowledge of inclusion and health inequalities relating to young people’s Health and Wellbeing. 
  • An understanding of the National Curriculum in relation to Health and Wellbeing
  • Experience of delivering Health and Wellbeing programmes in schools.
  • Experience of working with children and young people.
  • Experience of working with schools to improve Health and Wellbeing. 
  • Experience in health data collection and reporting.
  • Experience of supporting improved health Behaviour Change using evidenced based approaches.
