SalaryWe are proud to be partnering with a Local Council, who are looking to appoint a Benefits Assessment Officer on a 3 temporary contract.
This will be a full-time, fully remote position with an hourly rate of £24.70 via an umbrella company.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working as a Benefits Assessor and be highly proficient with Capita Academy.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Ensuring that applications for Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, Discretionary Housing Payments, Discretionary Council Tax Reduction and Local Welfare Assistance are processed and paid promptly and correctly in accordance with legislation and procedures
Resolving to conclusion telephone, face-to-face and written enquiries from residents, landlords, external agencies and other Council departments
Providing advice about welfare assistance and where applicable signpost customers to other agencies for help and support
Ensuring that the Council Tax account information relating to the customer has the correct liability and if not, resolve any discrepancies that would affect the financial award
Taking or initiating action, as appropriate, to ensure that overpayments have effective recovery set or are identified as not being recoverable in line with policies & procedures and are recommended for write off
Experience required:
Worked as a Benefits Assessor
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
Fully proficient in Capita Academy

37 hours per week
Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
