Role Overview
Reporting to the Head of Bids (IFM), the Bid Director will own and co-ordinate the bid process; starting with pre-engagement activities through targeting, capture pre-qualification, tender all the way to bid outcome. The role will also bare responsibility for strategic off-market extension activity with existing key accounts and will be required on occasion to assume the sales lead role on new business opportunities.
The Bid Director will be responsible for assembling a bid team with the relevant client/service/product/ business knowledge required to win the opportunity. This is a networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines.
Another key aspect of the role will be creating and maintaing relationship maps for the key IFM accounts. These will include both internal and external stakeholders and enable us to maximise the potential for off-market extensions, scope creep and additional business. Plans will also need to be created and managed with the Account Director(s) for extension and retention activity to support the overall pipeline and resource planning.
Main Duties
- Engage with the client prior to formal procurement (capture phase) to influence the technical and commercial elements and to position Mitie well in there expectations
- Provide high quality win strategy development from initial opportunity identification, and bid leadership for the larger more complex bids in Mitie
- Lead the strategic development of bids with detailed focus on client requirements recognising tangible and intangible needs and drivers by stakeholder
- Develop and implement effective communications and stakeholder management plans designed to influence a winning outcome
- Work closely with the operations team in the business to draw on their experience and knowledge and ultimately agreement on a winning bid submission
- Build, lead and motivate high performing bid teams with a focus and expectation to win
- Lead client negotiations to contract signature
- Lead client meetings and competitive dialogue sessions
- Lead the bid team in the implementation of all necessary bid procedures and processes in line with Mitie methodology and ensure they follow appropriate governance
- Lead the bid team in analysing the bid documents and requirements to ensure both compliance and responsiveness to the client's issues and needs throughout the bidding process
- Coach and mentor members of the Bid Team, particularly the Bid Manager and/or Senior Bid Manager
- Ensure all mandated workshops and reviews, as set out in Mitie methodology, are undertaken to full effect with support from the correct stakeholders

- Certified to APMP Foundation level or higher (desirable)

- Proficient MS Office skills including advance MS Word skills.
