Business Advisor

About the Role

We are now looking for a Business Advisor to deliver support to individuals and businesses in Cornwall, specifically third sector organisations including social enterprises, community interest companies, voluntary and charitable organisations, under our brand, in partnership with the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Growth Hub and Cornwall Council's Good Growth Programme.

Main Responsibilities: 

• Plan and deliver group training and development workshops, sessions and other activities to groups and individuals in order to achieve agreed targets for client engagement and business progression
• Provide 1:1 coaching with individuals and existing third sector businesses to help them overcome any barriers and create sustainable and deliverable action plans
• Contribute to developing and maintaining excellent working relationships / collaborations with other partners in the wider local support sector
• Meet delivery and contractual outcome targets as set by the Programme Director
• Capture and ensure the accurate recording of appropriate client data and evidence in our CRM and client files, as required by the Programme Director to support the preparation of accurate claims and progress reports
• Promote the project at events where required (some evening or weekend work may be required)
• Deliver an excellent service at all times to clients, partners, stakeholders and funders.
• Reflect and promote the values of company at all times

Please note the Business Advisor may also be called upon to complete a range of other duties for the company, as reasonably required. 

Personal Specification: 

• Relevant business support understanding with the ability to speak confidently and articulately about the key areas of focus for individuals and businesses including business planning, marketing and sales
• Experience in delivering business advice and support
• Knowledge of the third sector
• Ability and desire to work supportively as part of a small close-knit team
• Good organisational skills and a self-starter with an attitude of going the extra mile to support the team, partners and clients
• Ability to work under pressure
• Flexibility, adaptability and a willingness to embrace change and development
• Experience of working on a 1:1 basis with clients to support their specific challenges
• Proven ability in meeting/exceeding targets and managing client volumes
• Excellent communication skills with a positive and motivating approach to engaging with clients

What sort of person are we looking for? 

This role is for someone who is a real hands-on self-starter, prepared to do whatever it takes to deliver a successful project and a great impact for clients. You'll have strong interpersonal skills as well as business/finance experience in developing early-stage businesses and a well-developed analytical approach to tackling the challenges faced by new and existing businesses in the third sector.You will also be confident in developing and building strong relationships with a wide range of individuals and organisations.
