Job Description
An exciting opportunity awaits you to join us here at Genomics England as a Business Analyst for a one year fixed-term contract!
As a Business Analyst, you will collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, utilizing agile and waterfall methodologies to ensure representation of customer requirements in leading end-user solutions. Working closely with the Service Owner and Delivery Managers, you will contribute to operational improvements and drive the necessary technology transformation toward our target future operating model.
Ideally, you will have experience of supporting transformation projects across cloud (AWS) or on premise infrastructure.
Skills and Experience for Success:
- Ability to identify business needs and translate them into requirements.
- Familiarity with user-centered design principles and information architecture, applying them in the product development lifecycle.
- Expertise in facilitating requirements workshops, ranging from one-to-one interviews to large groups.
- Capable of writing unambiguous, verifiable requirements and articulating options clearly to different audiences.
- Experience in facilitating digital transformation, preferably in an SME environment.
- Strong understanding of Cloud platforms, virtual workspaces (VDI), analytics, and data science tools and languages, capable of engaging cross-functional teams.
- Experience in agile teams, working iteratively on solution development, and collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including client solutions teams, architects, project managers, delivery teams, and senior management.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge of cloud or on-premise hosting, infrastructure as code, networking or security.
Qualifications
- Degree-level qualifications (or relevant experience) in one or more of business, information technology, or information systems.
- Any Business Analyst-specific certifications (e.g., CBAP, ISEB, BCS).

Genomics England operates a blended working model as we know our people appreciate the flexibility. We expect most people to come into the office 2 times each month as a minimum. However, this will vary according to role and will be agreed with your team leader. For some people this is 1 day a quarter, for others it is several days a week. There is no expectation that staff will return to the office full time unless they want to. The exception would be some of our roles that would require you to be on site full time e.g., lab teams, reception team.
Our teams and squads have, and will continue to, reflect on what works best for them to work together successfully and have the freedom to design working patterns to suit, beyond the minimum. Our office locations are Canary Wharf, Cambridge and Leeds.
