Business Analyst (Data And Insight)

I am working exclusively with a public sector body, and we are looking for an experienced Analyst in Business / Data / Insights / Visualisation. This role is an internal-facing position, looking at connecting results and data, communicating ideas and stories to C-Suite, explaining the data to stakeholders that have a non-statistical background, with the ideology to use this information in key strategic policy and investment decisions for positive change.
Your new role
The successful candidate will be:

• Generate ideas for data-driven stories emerging from the work created by the organisation (and external data) and for how they might be developed and visualised.
• Explore those ideas and communicate them clearly to wider stakeholders from a non-statistical background.
• Produce visualisations that are clear, concise, and Insightful to relevant stakeholders.
• Report on and analyse data in a way that contributes to telling compelling stories across the media.
• Explore and summarise data to inform policy recommendations and new areas of work.
• Identify significant data trends and derive compelling messages from them.
• Lead editorially on data projects as required and contribute to the internal improvement on data capture and processing.
• Use skills and experience to advise on best approaches to data-led storytelling and the development and publication of data-led projects.

What you\'ll need to succeed
This position is ideal for someone who has:

• A qualification in data journalism/visualisation is ideal.
• A portfolio of published work using data, numbers, and statistics in journalism and/or business strategy, including data-led stories and/or interactive graphics.
• Demonstrable, hands-on experience of producing/commissioning data visualisations.
• Experience of producing and developing data-driven digital content to a senior level within time and budget constraints.
• Evidence of aggregation of data to drive decision-making and supporting strategic business cases/policy recommendations.
• An understanding of the UK political and policy environment, preferably around innovation and industrial strategy.
• Experience of Tableau, GIS or other mapping software.
