About You
The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary is seeking an experienced and commercially minded individual to join our small finance team. As a Business Analyst, your role will involve analysing, creating, and reviewing financial reports to assist senior managers in making business decisions. Additionally, you will handle cash transactions, perform financial administration tasks, and supervise one team member.
Accuracy and attention to detail are crucial for this role, as you will be recording, reporting, and analysing financial transactions across the charity and its limited company in a timely and efficient manner. You will also assist senior managers to ensure that the charity remains compliant with all applicable statutory financial regulations, and that daily tasks run smoothly to maintain an effective finance function.
Responsibilities
- Act as the main point of contact for finance-related queries.
- Ensure that financial transactions, policies, and procedures comply with regulations, accounting principles, and standards.
- Oversee adherence to financial policies and procedures.
- Manage transactions, cash flow, and banking activities.
- Handle daily cash-related duties.
- Process and oversee expenses, invoices, and purchase orders, while maintaining accurate records.
- Set up and ensure all payments are released through the online banking system.
- Analyse financial reports to produce valuable insights for business decisions.
- Support the company's financial operations, providing relevant information for budgeting, forecasting, and auditing.
- Produce Profit & Loss (P&L) and credit risk reports.
- Generate weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports as required.
- Process donations, grants, and gift aid claims.
The role requires flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed, as the sanctuary operates seven days a week.
Required Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated business acumen with a proven record of managing financial operations.
- Experience in report writing, derived from analysing financial data.
- Effectiveness in managing or supervising small teams.
- Proficiency in budgeting, data analysis, and using performance metrics to guide decisions.
- Working knowledge of accounting platforms.
- Understanding of the non-profit sector and familiarity with charity commission compliance.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and unforeseen challenges.
- Collaborative approach to working with key stakeholders, including the CEO, to ensure alignment with organisational goals.
