Our client, a boutique trading firm founded over a decade ago and driven by technology, initially specialised in trading structured finance products within elite sport. They have since transitioned their focus to the dynamic world of energy and commodities trading. With a steadfast foundational team, they've grown to a strong 30+ member team that's continually evolving.
The role
This an exciting opportunity to take step up from a Business Analyst position into Product Owner, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our client's energy trading systems.
Joining a seasoned team with a rich history of trading across diverse asset classes, this position offers a unique opportunity to define trading system requirements and vision and a fast-track to an exciting Product Management career in energy trading. The role will include:
- Leading the roadmap on Product Direction: You’ll get to work directly with the CTO to shape the product vision, focusing initially on energy products and potentially expanding into other asset classes.
- Acting as a bridge between technical teams, traders, and founder, you’ll be aligning internal needs with business strategy and translating them into technical features.
- Creating and maintaining the product backlog, crafting user stories and criteria to guide effective development
- Evaluating and prioritizing feature requests, enhancements, and bug fixes for efficient scheduling in line with business objectives.
- Working closely with technical teams to ensure feature implementation meets set priorities and requirements.
- Evaluating progress: Regularly assessing product progress and providing feedback for ongoing development improvements.
- Communication with internal and external stakeholders, understanding challenges to offer innovative solutions for enhancing the trading system.
The ideal candidate
Our client is keen to considerBusiness Analysts or Product Owners with c.3-8 years of experience across trading systems, ideally in a front office trading environment.
Expertise in (energy) ETRM trading systems would be desirable. Additionally:
- A comprehensive understanding of trading markets is essential. Energy & commodities ETRM or CTRM expertise is considered desirable.
- An ability to translate business needs into actionable technical solutions, ensuring alignment between the two.
- A high-level understanding of technical concepts in order to understand how trading systems interact.
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to convey complex ideas among stakeholders in this technically intricate field.
- Capability to manage priorities independently, work autonomously with minimal oversight, and consistently deliver.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
