Job Title:Business Assurance Junior Manager
Salary: The starting salary is £37,289, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.
The salary is broken down as £34,448 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale - £36,864 Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Location: Marlowe House or New Scotland Yard - Must be prepared to travel within reason
In Operational Support services (MO11) we provide a range of services to the Met, including providing Fleet, Vehicle Recovery, Catering, Travel, Cultural Services, Uniform, ID Passes, Exhibit Management and Local support to officers. Whilst these services are quite different in what they deliver, the desired outcomes of delighting our customers, improving performance, delivering innovative services that are value for money and supporting and developing our people are the same.
Job Purpose
As a Business Assurance Junior Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team to produce assurance packs/reports and other Business Assurance activity across the portfolio of services areas to ensure that we meet agreed quality and legislative standards and to continually improve and innovate.
The role holder must be prepared to travel within reason.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
- Produce creative and visually clear Business Assurance reports that show the key insight from the raw data
- Responsible for ensuring that the service data is accurate, and the context, trends and insight are probed and understood
- Support the team with other Business Assurance activities around forums and managing the service budget
- Help to implement framework for managing risk, health & safety and business continuity and ensure that regulatory standards are met
- Manage a team to deal effectively with service complaints where necessary (e.g., VRES) and meet any legislative requirements
- Help to drive a cultural change to be more customer centric, data driven and innovative as a function
Additional Information
Due to business reasons please be aware there is a tenure period of 2 years for this role. This will be confirmed at the time of posting, and it is the expectation that normally the officer or staff member will be able to commit to the tenure, as a minimum. Tenure agreements are subject to annual review and may be changed at any time for reasons other than career development, such as considerable investment in training.

- Presentation and design of presentations and reports – getting the key points across
- Able to think strategically and forward plan
- Finance and managing budgets
- Effective conflict and issue resolution skills (drawing on specialist commercial and regulatory knowledge would be a benefit)
