We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Director in our London Relationship Management, BCB business where clients will typically have a turnover of between £3M and £25M.
About the opportunity
You'll be responsible for driving franchise growth and supporting new to Bank clients with all their banking needs including lending, deposits and a wide range of other services by attracting high value clients and by deepening existing ‘secondary account’ relationships by becoming the ‘go-to’ banking professional within the SME community. You'll promote the Bank with the wider professional community and key influencers in and around London developing the business opportunities these connections can bring. You'll also be seen as an integral senior member of the London & East England Leadership team providing support, counsel and experience to colleagues and management alike.
What will you be doing?
  • Manages key professional and non-paid introducer relationships, typically by using account teams to ensure their ongoing satisfaction and dedication toward the organisation.
  • Uncovers emerging issues and/or needs and identifies potential causes, related issues, key stakeholders and barriers.
  • Identifies and evaluates complex expertise-led solutions against a range of criteria to find the ones that best meet business needs.
  • Meets the needs of significant customers related to a range of products and services and/or manages a customer advisor team over a given area.
  • Takes responsibility for implementing a colleague's formal development framework with guidance from senior colleagues, while informally coaching others throughout the organisation in area of expertise and pursuing and investing in opportunities for own personal development.
  • Analyses key themes using data from a wide range of sources and identifies possible impacts on the business.

What we'll need from you:
  • You'll have extensive Commercial/ Relationship Banking experience with a strong lending capability; able to assess credit risk of the corporate client
  • You'll also need to demonstrate how you're wired into local networks with extensive connections in the professional space and use these for Business Development opportunities
  • You'll be highly proficient at building and maintaining productive relationships with external professionals and adept at winning good volumes of higher value new client relationships.
  • You'll use your specialist credit and sector knowledge along with all available digital tools to deliver excellent client experiences whilst identifying ways to grow income, balance sheet and market share and handling associated risks
