Our client has an exciting opportunity for you to join their company, based in the heart of Gloucester. The opportunity involves working with both UK and international companies, from small niche players to blue chip household names.

 

Role Overview:

As Business Development, you will play a pivotal role in driving business growth through identifying new sales opportunities within their existing client base, as well as supporting the expanding reach with new customers in new market sectors, alongside the technical sales team.

You will utilise your technical expertise and strong sales acumen to effectively promote our engineering solutions, contributing to the overall success of the business.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage existing customers.
  • Generate new business leads through prospecting, including research via social media, cold calling, email marketing and networking.
  • Provide detailed understanding of market sectors by research, growth areas, trends etc in order to identify key target customers and contacts.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with existing clients to expand sales opportunities within divisions/ sister companies or their suppliers and customers.
  • Work alongside the Commercial Director to understand customer requirements to ensure all sales and new business opportunities are documented and explored.
  • Track development activity, prepare Business Development plans and sales reports, plus present insights to the management team.
  • Collaborate with the Operations and Production Team to understand client requirements and provide appropriate, accurate and cost-effective solutions.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and competitor activities to identify business opportunities.
  • Attend industry events, tradeshows, and conferences to enhance business presence and footprint, plus network with key industry stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and customer support, to ensure customer satisfaction throughout the sales process.
  • Achieve and exceed sales targets and contribute to the overall growth of the company.

 

 

Requirements: 

  • Experience, ideally from an engineering background within a technical Business Development Sales role as well as working within a B2B and marketing environment.
  • Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing Systems would be highly advantageous.
  • Proven track record of driving sales growth and delivering results. Demonstrate how you would approach a new market and/or customer by using the company’s unique proposition and differentiators.
  • Strong understanding of engineering applications, especially within the energy industry as well as applicable technology.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence key stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and target-driven individual with exceptional negotiation and closing skills.
  • A valid driver’s licence with the willingness to travel as required.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and prioritise tasks.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
