The Business Support Assistant, working in the Human Resources Service, provides effective and efficient administrative and clerical support.
The Business Support Assistant will report to the Team Leader – Workforce Development and will uphold Council standards and deliver best working practices. The Business Support Team provides administrative, financial and clerical support and act as the first point of contact for internal customers, external organisations and members of the public.
Tasks of the Business Support Assistant include:
- Sorting, logging and distributing mail, ensuring outgoing mail is processed and franked to meet postal deadlines;
- Filing and retrieval of mail and email documents, including files required by Officers, maintaining filing systems, scanning and archiving;
- Re-directing, or where appropriate, personally responding to Council general enquiries by phone and e-mail;
- Collating and co-ordinating responses to Freedom of Information Requests
- Maintaining stationery stocks and collating orders;
- Maintaining and updating various databases and spreadsheets, some technical;
- Accessing and maintaining information held on the Council’s HR/Payroll system and other electronic systems;
Two temporary opportunities available:
- Temporary full-time post for 37hpw, 52.18 weeks per year. This for the duration of a period of maternity leave, and will terminate following the return to work or resignation of the postholder.
- Temporary full-time post for 37 hpw, 52.18 per year. Temporary contract for a period of approximately 10 months. This post is grade D.

- Established part-time post for 25.5hpw, 52.18 per year.
