Job description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Business Support professional, for a fixed term role to July 2025 in Staffordshire County Council’s Environmental Business Support Team, to commence from May 2024. 

The primary aim of the role is to project manage the Innovate UK (IUK) project that Staffordshire County Council and Keele University have been successful in securing funding for, under the IUK Pathfinder project.

The project titled “Net Zero Skills for Growth” builds on the successful feasibility study “Staffordshire Net Zero living” taking forward highlighted barriers to achieving Net Zero in Staffordshire of “Green supply chains and green skills”.

This ground breaking project aims to clearly demonstrate to businesses in the region that Staffordshire is open for green growth, clearly articulating the opportunities that lie ahead in the shorter term, whilst also identifying the green skills needed and linking the providers together to deliver a better future for our businesses and residents. 

Main Responsibilities

You will:

  • act as a primary point of contact for the project internally and externally.
  • project manage the scope of work packages within the project in line with IUK requirements.
  • be responsible for the day to day activities of the IUK project as directed by line management to allow for the delivery of the project within defined timelines.  
  • assist in the procurement of goods and services and works as required.
The Ideal Candidate

You will have

  • a degree / equivalent academic ability or  appropriate experience in an environmental discipline.
  • relevant experience in climate change, environment or other related work.
  • a proven ability to work collaboratively with partners to deliver shared goals.
  • a good sense of time management 
  • experience in project management as this is a key responsibility within this role
