Café Assistant

· Newcastle upon Tyne

· £12.16 per annum

· Part Time, 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday

· Initial 2 Month Contract; potential to become permanent.

An experienced Café Assistant is required to join a newly opened Community Café in Newcastle upon Tyne.

The successful candidate will support in all areas of the cafe including serving food, maintaining health & safety standards, as well as barista style coffee-making. Most importantly, you will ensure a great customer experience.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

· Thinking of new and fresh menu items to offer variety for our customers.

· Barista style coffee making.

· Prepare, cook and serve nutritious meals, for a range of dietary requirements such as Vegans, & Vegetarians

· Maintain stock levels and equipment in line with set budget plans.

· Essure working areas are kept clean and tidy within food hygiene guidelines.

· Keep up to date records of the temperature of fridges, freezers and stored cooked foods in compliance with health legislations.

· Create and oversee the completion of cleaning router in accordance with current health and hygiene standards.

· Always provide excellent customer service

· Financial duties such as cashing up, paperwork & financial checks.

· Support with special events such as Christmas Meals & themed events

Desired Knowledge and Experience

· Experience within a fast-paced café or catering environment

· Experience in handling money as well as working within company budgets.

· Liaising with Deputy Service Manager to negotiate finances and budget.

· Must thrive in busy environments and be a positive productive problem solver.
